In our globalized world, our approach to questions of justice, borders, resources and community solidarity is based on the diktat of scarcity. According to the latter, the world’s resources are scarce and must be fought over in power struggles. In the context of the migration crisis, this law of scarcity goes so far as to dictate a form of ‘criminalization of solidarity’.
In the Bible, the concept of abundance invites us to apprehend the world rather as a place where we experience and share abundance. In such a perspective, solidarity is not a scarce resource, much on the contrary.
